Somewhere we belong
Somewhere we belong.
It is an interesting phrase, that holds a lot of truth.
It is a powerful question for schools. Do we build or create schools where we belong? Do we give choice to where we belong? Do we treat everyone like we belong?
David Simon writes about two americas, rich and poor, capitalism fails without a social compact, living a life of accountability to the bottom line. "Mistaking capitalism for a blueprint as to how to build a society strikes me as a really dangerous idea in a bad way."
"The idea that the market will solve such things as environmental concerns, as our racial divides, as our class distinctions, our problems with educating and incorporating one generation of workers into the economy after the other when that economy is changing; the idea that the market is going to heed all of the human concerns and still maximise profit is juvenile. Some tweets and stuff!
We offer more that a diploma we offer an opportunity. (needs some work, but it is start)
Today's tweets:
What do you do to change people's emotions?
What makes your life worthwhile?
We spend a lot of time trying to force people to be something, rather than letting them be what they are...
Find out what you are great at.
I think we need more people doing what they love, rather than being pressed out of a machine.

Goals of education?
ECONOMIC
CULTURAL
Greatest threat to an organization: adaptability and creativity
NEED TO THINK DIFFERENTLY
Diversity is at odds with conformity.
Education needs to be encouraged from the ground up, not controlled from the top. More control = greater alienation.
EDUCATION = teacher + learner That's it.

Just give!
On a personal note frustration is high. I decide to take a month off of CF to work this issue out in my hip. Two PT treatments later my lower back is in chaos. Not happy, feel like I have regressed 2 years. Wish me luck pulling out of this one.
Just Give! Better than just do it. To Give... where does it fit in the triangle? Esteem needs-yes, belonging-yes, to know and understand is even better. It may go higher. To function as a human with a higher aim in mind, that is the goal. The preverbial kill two birds.

The Pope's Job
I am not impressed with the way we treat water. I mean care for water, not how our "treatment" plants handle it. Though they don't do much of a job either, still using fluoride, really? So here is my thought. People seem to treat Holy Water pretty well, so the Pope should dedicate his time to blessing all major bodies of water. Then people would be likely to be more respectful to water. Maybe even a miracle or two in there for good measure.
Look I know this is a long shot, but think about the awareness raising. Al Gore can't generate press like that...
