Goals of education?
ECONOMIC
CULTURAL
Greatest threat to an organization: adaptability and creativity
NEED TO THINK DIFFERENTLY
Diversity is at odds with conformity.
Education needs to be encouraged from the ground up, not controlled from the top. More control = greater alienation.
EDUCATION = teacher + learner That's it.

Just give!
On a personal note frustration is high. I decide to take a month off of CF to work this issue out in my hip. Two PT treatments later my lower back is in chaos. Not happy, feel like I have regressed 2 years. Wish me luck pulling out of this one.
Just Give! Better than just do it. To Give... where does it fit in the triangle? Esteem needs-yes, belonging-yes, to know and understand is even better. It may go higher. To function as a human with a higher aim in mind, that is the goal. The preverbial kill two birds.

The Pope's Job
I am not impressed with the way we treat water. I mean care for water, not how our "treatment" plants handle it. Though they don't do much of a job either, still using fluoride, really? So here is my thought. People seem to treat Holy Water pretty well, so the Pope should dedicate his time to blessing all major bodies of water. Then people would be likely to be more respectful to water. Maybe even a miracle or two in there for good measure.
Look I know this is a long shot, but think about the awareness raising. Al Gore can't generate press like that...

College Admissions thoughts
I have been pondering some ideas about advice on the college admissions process. Who knows where it will go? book, blog?
*Start keeping a journal. Record thoughts, ideas, and experiences. Specifically about growth and reflection.
* Ask yourself the questions "So what?". Your smart, pretty, successful... so what? What have you done to give back or make change?
Colleges aren't always looking for the best, they are looking for those that are going to make a difference. Those that will bring something to the campus.
If you are hosting a good party you don't want all the same people there. Smart people are great, but you also need people to bring music, good food, people that will dance, you get the idea.
What can you do to get that college or university to want you on their campus?

Education debate
If you enjoy following this stuff like I do this is pretty interesting. It is a discussion between Diane Ravitch and Geoffrey Canada about education reform. It is long but worth it.
Diane has done almost a full 180. She worked with the first Bush administration to help set-up no child left behind, merit teacher pay, etc... Now she has a new book. She is powerful.
The idea of wrap around services is fascinating.
